Voyager of the Seas Calls at Hong Kong for the First Time

Royal Caribbean Internationals 137,276gt Voyager of the Seas called in Hong Kong for the first time on Friday as she was welcomed by around 100 government officials, travel agents and media.

An official plaque and key ceremony was conducted onboard with exchanges between ships master Captain Charles Teige and Anthony Lau, executive director of the Hong Kong Tourism Board; Andy Lam, Assistant Commissioner of the Tourism Commission; Leung Wing Fai, Acting Assistant Director (Shipping) of Hong Kong Marine Department; as well as other key partners.

Voyager of the Seas is on an eight-night cruise from Singapore to Shanghai, and is the first overnight port-of-call for the ships Asian season. The sailing also features stops in Ho Chi Minh and Xiamen.

Voyager of the Seas will return to Hong Kong on October 14 while on a 14-night sailing from Tianjin to Singapore, which also calls at Jeju, Nagasaki, Xiamen, Ho Chi Minh and Bangkok where an overnight is featured.

Dr Liu Zinan, Royal Caribbeans managing director of China and Asia said at the ceremony, Hong Kong has always been a highly popular destination for Royal Caribbean Internationals Asian itineraries given her dynamic mix of cultural attractions and modern city vibe, and we are pleased to feature her in Voyager of the Seas maiden Asian season for our guests.

He added, we are also optimistic that her arrival will help push for more and faster infrastructure development for larger cruise ships across the region including Hong Kong, and in turn, will strengthen Hong Kongs potential and importance to our company as a port-of-call and source market.

HKTBs Lau said, Our new world-class cruise terminal, which is expected to commence operation in mid-2013 will further expand our capability as a cruise hub.
