Michelin-star chef Paco Roncero, executive chef and manager of Casino de Madrid and Estado Puro, will sail on the 11-night cruise that leaves Barcelona on Nov. 28. He also will judge the Facebook ‘Crea tu tapa MSC Cruceros’ competition and announce the winner on Oct. 31.
Contestants must prepare a tapa, name and dedicate it to MSC, photograph it and post it online with an explanation of the recipe.
The winner will not only join the gourmet cruise but will post regular updates on the Spain Facebook page about the voyage to Casablanca, Santa Cruz de Tenerife, Funchal, Málaga, Civitavecchia and Genoa.
Roncero is considered a master of the different textures and flavours of olive oil and a leader in the molecular gastronomy movement. He is a contributor to the gastronomy section of El Pais, Spain’s leading daily newspaper, and a regular guest on Spanish television food shows.
Future MSC Cruises, gourmet sailings will feature such chefs as Italy’s Mauro Uliassi (MSC Splendida, Jan. 7-14), France’s Gilles Epié (MSC Splendida, Jan. 28-Feb. 4), the UK’s Antony Worrall Thompson (MSC Splendida, Feb. 4-11) and Germany’s Kolja Kleeberg (MSC Lirica, June 1-12).
