Princess Cruises Announces Regal Princess Scheduled to Debut in 2014

Posted October 29, 2012
Princess Cruises announced the name of the second of its new generation of ships, the Regal Princess.

Scheduled to debut in spring 2014, the Regal Princess will be a sister ship to the Royal Princess, also under construction and set to debut in June of 2013.

"Just as Royal Princess was named after one of our iconic early vessels, Regal Princess also takes a name from our past that we think is well suited for this spectacular ship," said Alan Buckelew, president and CEO of Princess Cruises.

The Regal Princess will hold 3,600 passengers and the 141,000-ton ship will offer many of the same features as the Royal Princess with details on itineraries and schedules to come within the next year.

The new generation of Princess cruise ships will offer exciting innovations and venues such as:

  • An expanded atrium, the social hub of the ship
  • The SeaWalk, a top-deck glass-bottomed walkway extending over the edge of the ship with views 128 feet down
  • Luxurious poolside cabanas that seem to be floating on water
  • Princess Live! television studio
  • Pastry Shop
  • New casual dining options such as a charming Italian-inspired gelateria, and a trendy Ocean Terrace Seafood Bar
  • Chef's Table Lumiere
  • Balconies on all outside staterooms
  • Largest top deck pool ever, featuring a water and light show
  • Enhanced "Movies Under the Stars" screen
