Disney Plans New Pixar-Themed Carlifornia Coastal Cruises
Disney Wonder will operate a new series of four Pixar-themed seven-night California coastal cruises this fall. On voyages Sept. 16 through Oct. 14, passengers will be able to interact with characters like Mr. Incredible, Remy, Woody, Jessie, Buzz Lightyear and others from Pixar Animation Studios films, meet filmmakers and see a special art exhibit.

Entertainment will include artists and filmmakers from Pixar Animation Studios providing an inside look at the creative process used in the development of an animated feature or short. Disney Cruise Line said passengers will go behind the scenes and explore the making of Pixars newest release, Brave, and get a look at footage of future Pixar films.

The art of Pixar, including storyboards, character sketches, environment paintings, maquettes and other concept art used to design films, will be on display in a special art exhibition at sea. According to Disney, this collection has been seen outside of Pixar Animation Studios only when it has been displayed at leading art museums around the world.

Passengers will also be able to watch the entire Pixar library of films, including a selection of animated shorts. Viewings will scheduled in the Buena Vista Theatre, Walt Disney Theatre, at the jumbo LED screen on deck or on in-stateroom television. The voyages coincide with the theatrical premiere of Finding Nemo 3-D, to be aired in the two theatres which are equipped with Dolby 3-D projection systems.

More than a dozen Pixar characters will mingle with passengers throughout the cruises, and there will be Pixar-themed dance parties in the atrium lobby.

Passengers will also receive a commemorative lithograph created by Pixar artist and Brave co-director/screenwriter Steve Purcell.

Disney Wonder will sail from Los Angeles to San Francisco, San Diego and Ensenada during the four cruises, priced starting at $799 per person, double occupancy, for a deluxe inside stateroom.
