Celebrity Cruises Now Offers Popular Zumba Classes Across Entire Fleet

Posted January 02, 2013
Celebrity Cruises is expanding its Celebrity Life Plus line-up, now offering Zumba fitness classes on all of its ships beginning January 16, 2013.

Previously only available on its trans-Atlantic crossings, the Zumba Fitness program of Celebrity Life Plus will offer two classes a day, led by Zumba instructors who are part of the "Zumba Instructor Network" and who hold licenses to teach specialty Zumba classes - Zumba Gold (for the active older adult) and Aqua Zumba, which Zumba calls "the ultimate pool party."

Zumba is a very popular Latin dance fitness program created by dancer and choreographer Alberto "Beto" Perez during the 1990s.

Zumba involves combining music with dance and aerobic elements. Zumba's choreography incorporates hip-hop, samba, salsa, mambo, martial arts, and some belly dance moves. Squats and lunges are also included.

The music comes from the following dance styles: salsa, merengue, mambo, flamenco, chachacha, reggaeton, samba, belly dancing, hip hop music, and tango.

Princess Cruises also offers free Zumba classes across its fleet. Passengers on Princess have fun partaking in Zumba in the nightclubs, atriums and on the open decks and has quickly become one of the most popular activities on board.
